The Orchard Dementia Centre In Chertsey is surprised with an emotional performance from vintage singing trio Champagne at the Blitz🎙🥂
The Orchard Dementia Centre in Chertsey was named Eagle Radio’s Charity Of The Year in 2017. As part of their collaboration, the Eagle Radio team organised different activities to keep the clients active and entertained on their day visits to the centre. One of these special activities was a sing-a-long with vintage wartime trio Champagne At The Blitz.
Champagne At The Blitz is made up of Caroline, Jenny and Sarah and are a professional vintage singing trio based in North Hampshire. They are “armed with swinging tunes, sweet harmonies and seamed nylons, [to] bring back all the romance and glamour from days gone by with songs from the 40s and 50s”
The trio visited the Orchard to perform some tracks from Dame Vera Lynn to Frank Sinatra. The clients were tapping their feet and may have shed a few tears too!
“It was lovely that the people were joining in and singing along. There were a few tears which we don't intend to make people cry but it's lovely because it shows that it's stirring memory”
